About this process map

This process map isn't definitive, there are many other methods and processes that you can go through to get to the development stage, a staged rollout or in an iterative design.

It also doesn't necessarily describe what I view as best practice, only the methods I've used and encountered. However, most processes involve these stages:

  • Research
  • Analysis
  • Design
  • and constant User Testing.

Designing for the web - What is it?

In this presentation, I'll tend to refer to web sites, or 'sites', although, we find that websites are becoming more like applications (flickr, moo, gmail) and become more divorced from a browser-only experience (Evernote, together with a desktop app, twitter, together with desktop, mobile texting).

Equally, the 'site' is not necessarily limited to the site itself - RSS, microformats and APIs mean flickr and google maps, for example, are accessed from within other sites, and locations.

So, when I say 'site', I don't mean to limit the context of the user experience at all.
